Offered is a 1909-S/S Lincoln Wheat Cent certified MS64 Red-Brown by PCGS and attributed as the popular S/Horizontal S variety, FS-1502.

During preparation of the working die, the first “S” mintmark was mistakenly punched in a nearly horizontal position. The error was corrected by punching a second, upright “S” over it, leaving portions of the original sideways mintmark visible beneath the final mintmark. This is a repunched mintmark variety—not a doubled-die obverse.

The 1909-S is already a desirable first-year Lincoln cent with a relatively low mintage of 1,825,000 across all varieties. This Choice Mint State example retains an attractive mixture of original red and mellow brown coloration with strong overall detail.
